At Flinders Fertility, we’re thrilled to share some long-awaited and very welcome news: Medicare rebates are now available for single women and same-sex female couples undergoing IVF and other fertility treatments.
This is a big win for fairness and equality. For too long, women who didn’t have a male partner were excluded from the same financial support available to heterosexual couples. That meant many single women and lesbian couples had to pay entirely out of pocket, even if they needed the same treatment as anyone else trying to conceive.
Now, that’s changed.
Medicare has updated its rules to remove the requirement that people prove “medical infertility” through repeated failed attempts before qualifying for rebates.
