You may have seen a few news articles lately like this one about the cost and usefulness of add-ons to IVF. Add-ons (or adjuvants) can range from relatively inexpensive treatments like acupuncture to Embryo Glue and embryo testing (e.g. PGT), and all the way to an endometrial receptiveness array that costs thousands of dollars.
At Flinders Fertility we take a low-intervention approach, meaning that we don’t recommend add-ons as standard, particularly for patients that have not had treatment previously. For patients who have had prior failed cycles, we do discuss some options and will explain the evidence and costs to you. For example, we may suggest Embryo Glue for patients who have experienced recurrent implantation failure.
Our doctors are happy to discuss add-ons with you and understand that repeated cycles can be draining and frustrating. As the saying goes, “insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting a different result” so we aim to give you a balanced view of the possible benefits and risks so that you can make an informed decision for your circumstances.
